------------------Here is the fine print---------------------
To All USATT Clubs:
As a reminder, USATT will be making some big changes at the beginning of the year. As of January 1, 2016, we will be moving to a new, all inclusive, membership system (Simply Compete), the new membership levels will fully go into effect and rating fees will become a thing of the past!
Tournament Pass
The new unlimited, $20 tournament pass, can now be sold at your tournaments. This pass is for both new players and those players with an expired membership. When selling the pass, you should treat it like any other membership, in that all of the player’s personal information should be collected, particularly their email! We will need an email in order for them to get access to their member profile.
Here is a quick refresher on the new membership levels (see chart below for pricing)
· General Members. No ratings fees for USATT Sanctioned Tournaments, USATT Events (US Open, US National Championships), and/or USATT Sanctioned Leagues. USATT will continue to offer multi-year memberships under the “General Membership” category.
· Associate Members. May pay on a per-event basis as outlined below. Associate Memberships will only be offered on a year-to-year basis, and Associate Members may not participate in USATT Sanctioned Leagues (unless they purchase a tournament pass). Please note that, in accordance with the USATT By-Laws, Associate Members may not vote in elections.
Membership Type Associate General
Adult 1-year n/a $75
Adult 3-year n/a $210
Adult 5-year n/a $325
Junior 1-year n/a $45
Junior 3-year n/a $125
Collegiate 1-Year n/a $45
Household 1-Year n/a $150
Lifetime n/a $1,300
Contributor n/a $45
Tournament Pass (per tournament) $20 n/a
USATT Event Fee (Nationals, Open) $25 n/a
Please note the following with regard to the new membership levels:
• Contributor memberships are for those who are required to be, or wish to remain as, paying members of USATT (e.g. Coaches and Officials) but won’t be competing in sanctioned leagues or tournaments. If a contributor member wishes to play in a sanctioned league or tournament, they will have to purchase a tournament pass or upgrade to a full membership.
There has been some confusion regarding what exactly an “Associate Membership” is. An Associate Membership is simply a classification created by USATT to determine eligibility for leagues and tournament passes, it isn’t a literal membership that can be sold by a club.
When a new player creates a profile in the membership system, Simply Compete, they are automatically classified as an Associate Member. Any player that purchases a tournament pass or has an expired membership is considered an Associate Member. Once a member purchases a full membership of some sort, they become a General Member.
We understand that this may take some time to get used to. If something doesn’t quite make sense to you, don’t take a stab at it, call us! That way you can get a quick answer and we don’t have to call you later to sort something out, win win!
Membership Commission
The commission for memberships sold by clubs is now 10% rather than 15%. Don’t worry though, you won’t be losing any money with this change, you’ll actually make a little bit more due to the increased membership rates!
Leagues
USATT, in partnership with Simply Compete, will be assuming control of the League Rating system that was previously operated and managed by Robert Mayer. As part of this transition, USATT will now offer leagues the opportunity to operate as a “sanctioned league,” with the primary difference being that “sanctioned league” matches will now be factored in to USATT ratings.
In order to properly process league ratings, all league participants (whether sanctioned or unsanctioned) must be USATT Associate or General Members. USATT will be providing an on-line tool for participants and league directors to register and manage league participant membership data.
• Unsanctioned Leagues will operate similarly to prior years and match results will not be included in the USATT ratings calculation. All league participants must, at a minimum, be USATT Associate Members, which is free. There will be no additional fees to the league or its members.
• Sanctioned Leagues will allow leagues to apply match results to USATT ratings on a .5 multiplier basis (e.g., if a regular tournament point exchange was 8, the Sanctioned League point exchange will be 4). Associate members may purchase a tournament pass and participate in Sanctioned Leagues.
Tournament Reporting
For those of you that have been submitting your results online, your process will not change. We will be keeping the same exact excel file for results and memberships submission, so you don’t need to change anything.
We are very excited for this new system, we know it will speed up and simplify many processes surround our sport. Keep an eye on your email after the New Year, we will be sending out a launch notice that will tell you how to login to your account.
Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions you might have, we are here to help!
