What do you call our great sport? The names are often used interchangeably by its players. To perhaps add some dignity to the game, some like to refer to it as: “Table Tennis.” Throughout the basements and cellars of America it is more often called: “Ping Pong.” To best reflect the opinions of our members, this website will use the name: “Ping Pong”


The Oxford American Dictionary defines Table Tennis as:

    an indoor game based on tennis, played with small 

    paddles and a ball bounced on a table divided by a net.


...and it defines Ping Pong as:

    another term for table tennis.

    ORIGIN early 20th century: imitative of the sound of a paddle striking a ball.


At GMTTC, we are not prejudiced of which you may choose. Just don’t call it “Stupid.”
